9/11 Remembrance Service in Town Square Monday

The American Legion and American Legion Riders will be holding a 9/11 Remembrance Service Monday a 9 a.m. at Town Square to honor the bravery and sacrifice of those that responded to the crisis 22 years ago and the people in Havre who do the same jobs.

American Legion and Legion Rider member Shawn Heldt, one of the organizers for the event, said he thinks it will be good event for the community, ending out the summer with something to honor people in the area who do good work.

“I think it’s going to be a great thing,” Heldt said.

The event also will honor the Havre Fire Department, Havre Police Department, Hill County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and first responders and Montana Highway Patrol as well as Customs and Border Patrol.

Heldt said vehicles of these various agencies will be parked along First Street along Town Square.

He said this will be the second year his organization has done this event, but it was a little haphazard the first time.

This year, he said, they have been a bit more methodical and are hoping for a good turnout.
