Next blood drive is Tuesday

by Carla Jenewein

Local Red Cross blood drive coordinator

July 25, 2023, the Chinook community hosted the Red Cross blood drive.

We had 47 donors register with 47 units collected. We registered one first time donor, Daniel Mohar. Two donors reached milestones, Amanda Grebliunas, 1 gallon, and Don Ranstrom, 17 gallons.

Door prizes were awarded to Daniel Mohar, Trisha Merrill, Ken Maley, Reese Elliot, Shellie McMaster and Brooke Pruttis. Door prizes were provided by the Presbyterian Church and Zion Lutheran Church as well as North Central Montana Cattlewoman.

At the reception table weres Judy Johnson, Linda Thompson and Roxanne Townsend. Setup was completed by Judy Johnson, Roxanne and Terry Townsend and Linda Thompson. Cleanup was accomplished by Carla Anderson and students from JUMP as well as Judy Johnson, Roxanne Townsend and Linda Thompson.

All the help and willingness to volunteer you time for this lifesaving event is greatly appreciated.

Our next blood drive is Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, at the community commercial building at the fairgrounds in Chinook from noon to 6 p.m.

Donors with all blood types are needed. Blood is a perishable product that can only come from donors like yourself. So please come roll up your sleeve and give the gift of life.

Appointments are highly encouraged by the Red Cross. If you have not made an appointment to donate, you can go online at redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767 (1-800-REDCROSS). Walk-in donors are always welcome.

Before donating, it is recommended you get a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast and/or lunch and drink extra fluids to replace the volume you will donate. Try to avoid beverages with caffeine and fatty foods.

After your donation, be sure and stop by the canteen to replenish your fluid and strength.

We are looking forward to seeing you there.
