After several weeks of preparation, the Havre High cross country teams finally opened the season this past Friday with the Hardin Invitational. In their first competition of the season, the HHS girls team finished third while the HHS boys team took ninth.
The HHS girls team scored 105 total points to finish third in its meet. Hardin won the girls meet with 24 total points while Cody took second with 46 total points. In the girls 5,000-meter run, several Ponies ran well.
Freshman Ashlyn Ford finished fifth in the meet with a time of 21:08.43. Hailey Gingery posted a time of 23:28.15 to take 20th while Jayla Meldrum recorded a time of 24:23.42 to take 27th.
Havre's Paige Anderson finished 28th with a time of 24:25.68 and Clara Haslem took 32nd with a time of 25:09.74. Gracie Shandorf recorded a time of 25:36.01 to take 36th while Ariel ost posted a time of 27:22.22 to finish 48th in the meet.
The HHS boys team scored 202 total points to finish ninth in its meet. Cody won the boys meet with 68 total points while Hardin finished second and Livingston took third.
In the boys 5,000-meter run, Caleb Tomac finished fourth with a time of 17:15.56. Zack May took 22nd with a time of 19:20.07 and Mason Gregoire took 34th with a time of 20:09.14.
Braeden Nimmick posted a time of 22:53.70 and his teammate Koby Preputin recorded a time of 24:39.79. Eric Messinger finished the meet with a time of 25:27.20 and Rowdy Doney posted a time of 25:30.09.
The HHS cross country teams will continue the season with the Havre Invitational at Prairie Farms Golf Course this Saturday.
