Skylights split trip to Arizona

The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team opened the ACU Tournament in Arizona last weekend with an impressive first day.

The Skylights volleyball team went 1-1 on Friday against Park-Gilbert University and Ottawa University. The MSU-Northern Skylights beat Park-Gilbert University in three sets (25-15, 25-14, and 25-16). They lost to Ottawa in five (25-22, 25-18, 25-23, 25-25, and 17-15)

Against Park-Gilbert University the Skylights were led by Alyssa Pretty-Weasel who had 12 kills with .400 percentage. Emily Feller led the team in assists with 21. She also led the team in digs with 16.

The Buccaneers were led by Mollory Turner with six kills with two errors. Uma Lorentzen led the team in assists with 14. Railey Druxman led the team in digs with 11.

Against Ottawa University the Skylights were led by Alana Graves who had 15 kills with a .233 percentage. Alyssa Pretty Weasel added 14 kills to the match. Emily Feller led the team in assists with 34. Baily Egan led the team in digs with 21.

The Spirits were led by Lauren Wamsley with 13 kills with a percent of .159, she also led the team in digs with 17. Logan Kuehn led the team in assists with 20.

Northern also went 1-1 Saturday. The Skylights went 1-1 against Lewis-Clark State College and Arizona Christian University. The skylights won against LC State in five (25-15, 25-20, 26-24, 25-22, and 15-10). They lost in three against Arizona Christian University (25-23, 25-16, and 26-24).

Against LC State College the Skylights were led by Alyssa Pretty Weasel who had 15 kills with a .365 percentage. Alana Graves added 14 kills, Emily Feller led the team with assists with 28. Bailey Egan led the team in digs with 21.

Against Arizona Christian University the Skylights were led by Jessalyn Chvilicek who had nine kills with a .065 percentage. Emily Feller led the team with assists with 17. Bailey Egan led the team in digs with 14.

The Warriors were led by Juliauna Forgach Agu who had 19 kills with a percentage of .267. Sofie Langer led the team in assists with 40. Natany Felix Guimara led the team in digs with 27.

The Firestorms were led by Sydney Brown who had 13 kills hitting a percentage of .417. Nikole Lunsford led the team in digs with 16.Caitlin Chan led the team in assists with 20.

The Skylights will be at home against Medicine Hat College for a scrimmage Friday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m.
