Rocky Boy's 59th Annual Celebration has ended, one that seems to have been well-received this year by attendees from across the U.S. and beyond.
The celebration had events for youths and adults, whether they were competitors and spectators, including rodeos, dancing, music, food, vendors and a lot of good feelings all around.
Organizations from around Rocky Boy have contributed to organizing the celebration's various events which included a number of competitive dances with various categories and age groups and prizes for the winners.
While the event has plenty of people who come every year, it also has a fair share of new attendees as well.
Among them was Robert Martinez, who had set up a booth selling art and jewelry from his business Canyon Arts, and was sure he would be coming back next year.
Martinez said his fiancée and brother had visited this powwow before, but this is his first time and it's been a very good one.
"It's been great for us," he said. "The drums are wonderful. The music, the dancers, it's awesome, man."
Martinez said he knows some of the drum groups playing personally and it's great to see them, as well as get out of the heat of his home in New Mexico.
He said they had just come from the Winnebago Powwow in Nebraska and, with the humidity, it felt like 108 degrees, so this weekend was comparatively a nice change of pace.
Arden Flansburg was another first-time attendee, and also another whose significant other had been there before.
He and his wife, Fawn, said they've been having a great time this year, giving the food vendors a particularly good review.
"Good time, great food," they said, nearly in unison.
Fawn Flansburg said the powwow is always a great experience.
"Every year here is good," she said.
