While the season is still several months away, the Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team has released its schedule for the 2023-24 season.
The Lights will begin the season Oct. 28 with a game against Portland Bible College in Butte. The Lights will then start November with a road trip to California to play teams such as La Sierra University, William Jessup University, Menlo College and Pacific Union College.
The Lights will return to Montana to play Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Helena Nov. 10. The next day, the Lights will play Corban University.
The Lights will start with home games against Concordia University of Edmonton and the University of Alberta-Augustana to start the month of December. The games will be Dec. 2 and Dec. 7 at Armory Gymnasium.
Later in the month, the Lights will head to Chandler, Arizona, to compete in the Cactus Classic. At the tournament, the Lights will play Ottawa University-Arizona, Arizona Christian University and Huntington University. The Lights will wrap up 2023 with home games against Ambrose University and Lakeland University Dec. 28 and Dec. 30.
The Lights will begin 2024 and the Frontier Conference season Jan. 6 with a road game against Montana Western. The Lights will then play Montana Tech at home Jan. 11. The Lights will then head back on the road to Billings to play Rocky Mountain College Jan. 13.
On Jan. 18, the Lights will play the University of Providence at home. The Lights then head on a road trip to face Carroll College in Helena and Montana Tech in Butte. The Lights will wrap up January with a home game against Montana Western Jan. 27.
The Lights open February with a home game against Rocky Mountain College and will then head down to Great Falls to play Providence. Then Feb. 8 and Feb. 10, the Lights will host home games against Carroll College and Montana Tech.
The following weekend, the Lights head on the road to play Montana Western and will then return home to play Rocky Mountain College. The Lights will wrap up the regular season with road games against Providence and Carroll College.
Last season, the Lights finished the year with an overall record of 19-11 and they went 7-8 in the Frontier Conference. They then lost, 72-70, to Providence in the semifinals of the Frontier Conference Tournament to end the season. This season, they will look to make it further in the postseason and clinch a bid in the NAIA postseason tournament.
