With summer nearing its end, the Frontier Conference volleyball season will soon be upon us. An indication that the season is fast approaching is the release of the Frontier Conference preseason coach’s poll earlier this week.
In the poll, volleyball coaches in the Frontier Conference picked Montana Tech to finish first in the conference this fall. The Orediggers earned 24 total points and four first-place votes in the poll after finishing first during the regular season last year.
Rocky Mountain College was picked to finish second in the poll with 21 total points and two first-place votes. The Bears won the Frontier Conference postseason tournament last season.
The Frontier Conference coaches picked Montana Western to finish third in the conference with 18 total points. The University of Providence was picked to finish fourth this season with 12 total points in the poll.
In the poll, Carroll College was picked to finish fifth with nine total points in the poll. The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team was picked to finish last in the Frontier Conference with six total points in the poll.
The Skylights will look to prove the poll wrong this fall when they return to the court. Last season, the Skylights went 3-6 in conference play to finish fourth in the Frontier Conference ahead of Montana Western and Providence.
The MSU-Northern volleyball team will begin the season with a match against Evergreen State College in Butte Aug. 17.
The Skylights will begin conference play Sept. 22 when they host Montana Western at Armory Gymnasium.
