Local Golf Report: Summer golf season heats up

The heat is on. As the 2023 golf season heads toward August, the summer is heating up.

In tournament action last weekend, the annual Duel on the Prairie Member/Guest Tournament was held at Prairie Farms Golf Course. The 36-hole tournament is a newer format with alternate shots for 18 holes and 2-man best ball for the other 18. The tournament was captured by Shane Patacsil and David Gordon. Congrats, fellas!

Summer is still going, but high school golf is also returning to the Hi-Line very soon. Under new head coach Dennis Murphy, the 2023 Havre High golf season will get underway with the first practice. The regular season begins the following week. Reminder, all golfers planning on playing high school golf this fall must have a sports physical completed before Aug. 10.

In men’s league golf last week at Prairie Farms, RJS 1 was high team with 23.5 points. A.J. LaMere, Shane Patacsil, JoJo Billy and Isaiah Murie made up the team, while Patacsil was low net with a 32 and Caleb Spangler was low gross with a 1-under 35. On Wednesday night, LPL Financial was the team with 20.5 points. Jeremy Jensen, who was also low gross with a 2-under 34, Tommy and Trey Brown, and Dick Hansen made up the squad. Geno Harada was low net with a 31.
