Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte made stops around the Golden Triangle Wednesday as part of his 56 County Tour, meeting with local business owners, county and city government officials, tribal councils and residents.
After touring the Little River Trading Post in Fort Belknap and later meeting with members of the Fort Belknap Indian Community Council, he made a stop at Chinook Pharmacy, where he presented the Sprit of Montana award to its former owners, Kelcey and Nancy Diemert, along with a Montana State Flag, for their contributions to the area as business owners and active participants in the community.
Gianforte thanked them for their 30 years of work and wished their successor, Angie Billmayer, and her family, luck thanking them for purchasing the business preserving the historic storefront.
Amoung the stops was one in Havre at the Hi-Line Motel, where he met with owners Justin Aikins and Sarah McKinney, as well as a some Havre High School art students who designed and painted a mural in the motel's courtyard.
While Gianforte was at the Hi-Line Motel meeting and having lunch with motel staff, local officials and residents and the Havre High students, Montana First Lady Susan Gianforte was at the Havre-Hill County Library reading to local children.

The Gianfortes also had lunch with a crowd of residents and local officials including county commissioners, city council members and local legislators at the motel before departing for the Rocky Boy Veterans Center to recognize a recipient of the 2022 Montana Governor's Veteran Commendation, U.S. Army veteran Chauncey Parker.
He later visited the reconstruction site for Fort Benton's water tower with Fort Benton Mayor Lanny Walker and held a ceremonial bill signing there for some tax relief bills with Rep. Josh Kassmier, R-Fort Benton.
Gianforte then when to meet with Liberty County Agriculture producers at Stricks Fertilizer in Chester before going to the Lions Club Rest Area in town to recognize the recipient of another 2022 Montana Governor's Veteran Commendation, U.S. Army veteran Neal Eveland.
He later recognized a third recipient of the 2022 Montana Governor's Veteran Commendation in Shelby, U.S. Army veteran Xavier Rayes.
While there he also held another ceremonial signing ceremony for education bills with Rep. Llew Jones, R-Conrad.
