On Wednesday night at the Great Northern Fair, the Jr. Rodeo made its return. Over the course of the night, several young cowboys and cowgirls competed against one another and demonstrated their skills in many events.
There were several goat tying competitions throughout the season. In 9-13 boys goat tying, Cooper Fisher took first with a time of 14.9 and Colt Taylor finished second with a time of 20.9. In 9-13 girls goat tying, Cayden Chapman finished first with a time of 11.77 while Bryar Taylor took second with a time of 11.89 and Cassidy Leeds took third with a time of 13.08.
Kyla Burchard took first in 14-18 goat tying with a time of 9.9. Hedy Spencer took second with a time of 12.15 and Aislinn Handy finished third with a time of 14.51. JR Branger took first in 14-18 tie down roping with a time of 25.21.
Throughout the night, several riders competed in barrel events. Oaklynn Fisher finished first in 4-8 barrels with a time of 19.277. Kaber Loch took second with a time of 24.167 and Alyssa Sutherland finished third with a time of 24.58.
In 9-13 barrels, Bryar Taylor took first with a time of 16.627 while Kaiya Sanchez finished second with a time of 17.235 and Aspen Burcham took third with a time of 17.82. In 14-18 barrels, Teona Funk took first with a time of 16.31. Behind her were Handy in second with a time of 16.94 and Burchard in third with a time of 17.43.
The flag race events also saw several competitions throughout the evening. In 4-8 flag racing, Oaklynn Fisher took first with a time of 12.06 while Tipton Burcham took second with a time of 12.365 and Kaber Loch took third with a time of 13.79. Branger took first in 9-13 flag racing with a time of 7.705 while Aspen Burcham finished second with a time of 9.023 and Sanchez took third with a time of 9.374.
In 4-8 pole bending, Oaklynn Fisher took first with a time of 31.87 while Kaber Loch took second with a time of 35.535 and Hagen Huestis took third with a time of 37.347. In 9-13 pole bending, Bryar Taylor finished first with a time of 22.64, Leeds took second with a time of 23.79 and Sanchez took third with a time of 23.95. Jadyn Herrig took first in 14-18 pole bending with a time of 23.81. Burchard took second with a time of 24.11 and Mackenzie Freeman took third with a time of 24.87.
In the 9-13 breakaway roping, Kenny Helgeson took first with a time of 1.88. Bryar Taylor took second with a time of 2 and Branger took third with a time of 4.88. In 14-18 breakaway roping, Ty Kittson took first with a time of 2.63 while Burchard took second with a time of 4.00 and Funk finished third with a time of 9.32.
There were some events where only 4-8 year olds competed. In the goat untie event, Kaber Loch took first with a time of 11.03 while Piper Fisher took second with a time of 11.25 and Kayden Loch took third with a time of 11.32. Aylah Hipple won the sheep riding event with a time of 89. Kolter Loch came in second with a score of 87 and Jersey Fisher took third with a score of 82.
In monkey on a rope, Caiden and Wyatt took first with a time of 32.26. Kyla and Astin took second with a time of 32.46 and Herrig's team took third with a time of 35.84. In team roping, Burchard and Alex Fourcolors took first with a time of 10.58.
The Great Northern Fair will continue tonight and throughout the weekend. The Great Northern Ram Rodeo will begin tonight at 7 p.m.
