The Havre Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome, fresh off their mainstage appearance at the Under The Big Sky music festival, Izaak Opatz and his band to Sounds on the Square Wednesday, July 19,as part of a Montana tour with Jonny Fritz.
Izaak Opatz was last in Havre in June to run the Bear Paw ½ Marathon, and informally played music with friends the night before the race at Triple Dog Brewing.
This time around, Opatz will be joined by his band, composed of Los Angeles studio musicians. Opatz has been regularly featured in Rolling Stone Magazine in their Country Music Picks of the Week for his cover of “Drunk On A Plane,” as an “Artist you need to know,” and as one of “AmericanaFest: 20 Must-See Shows.”
“Izaak Opatz is a captivating songwriter with a golden voice. He charismatically cuts through alt-country instrumentals with an impressive knack for lyrical design, coupled with unpretending and flawless phrasing.” — Glide Magazine
Jonny Fritz, a singer-songwriter, leatherworker, and “LA’s Only Real Estate Agent,” plays a style of music he calls “Dad Country” and his most recent solo album, “Sweet Creep,” was recorded by Jim James of the band My Morning Jacket.
Fritz recently completed a tour of Australia with alt-country songwriter, Sierra Ferrell and joined Opatz for this short Montana tour, which will conclude in Missoula.
Also on the bill alongside Fritz and Opatz for Wednesday will be fellow Montana troubadour Chris Sand. Dubbed “Our troubadour for the 21st Century” by Punk Planet, Sand takes pride in being a free-wheeling Montana-raised songster and will start the show at 6 p.m.
This show is happening thanks to support from Dancing Goat Gardens and Black & White Farms.
