From Tee to Green: Congrats Dennis Murphy

I’ve been wanting to get this out for a while now, and with the season just a little more than a month away, it’s time. I want to offer my congrats to the newest head coach of the Havre High boys and girls golf teams.

So congrats Dennis Murphy!

Dennis has been working with HHS golf for several years now, and is going to be a great asset to the program. I don’t even need to mention his decades of coaching, teaching and administrative experience, though, that’s immense. No, Dennis is going to be a great leader for the HHS golf program because he’s simply an outstanding coach and an outstanding mentor, not to mention one of the greatest ambassadors of Havre High we’ve ever known. So congrats again, my friend, and get ready, because August will be here before you know it!

The second half of men’s league at Prairie Farms Golf Course started last week. On Tuesday night, Prairie Farms and RJS1 shared high-team honors, each with 21 points. Former Blue Pony standout Caleb Spangler shot 37 for low gross, while Barry Zanto was low net with a 34. It was a big week for Spangler, who also fired a 1-under 35 for low gross last Wednesday night. Kerry Ward was low net with a 31.5, and Gallery Lounge was high team with 21.5 points.

In women’s league, two weeks ago Kesley Sage was low gross with a 40, while Sarah Christianson, Patti Nault and Patsy Divish shared low net. Last Thursday night, Ali Ward and Kelsey Ward each shot 39 for low gross, while Paige Henderson had low net and Patrick Construction was high team with 22.5 points.
