A North Dakota woman died in a vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 2 West Sunday morning and the Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
The woman was 47 years old and was pronounced dead on arrival. Her name had not been released as of printing deadline this morning.
Montana Highway Patrol reports the woman was westbound driving a Dodge Caliber when it went off the left side of the road and into the ditch before crossing an approach and hitting a pine tree near the 363 mile marker west of Kremlin.
The woman who died was the driver of the vehicle and there were no passengers, nor were there any other vehicles involved in the crash, which was reported at 8:52 a.m. Sunday.
The Havre Fire Department responded shortly thereafter, its dispatch log said.
Highway Patrol reports investigation of the incident is ongoing, but drugs and/or alcohol use are suspected as factors in the crash and the woman was not wearing a seatbelt.
The log says road conditions were dry.
This is the state’s 78th road fatality this year.
