From the Fringe: Montana State University football releases fall schedule

Summer workouts are in full swing and fall camp for the Montana State Bobcats and Montana Grizzlies is a little more than a month away.

And for MSU fans, the full slate of kickoff times and the TV schedule is now out.

The Cats, who have sold out season tickets for the first time in school history, will kick off the 2023 season with their annual Gold Rush Game Sept. 2 with a night game against Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State) at Bobcat Stadium. The game starts at 6 p.m. and will be televised on SWX TV and ESPN+. The following Saturday, the Bobcats hit the road for a showdown with defending national champion South Dakota State. That game will kick off at 5 p.m. M.S.T., and air on MTN TV and ESPN+. The Cats lost at SDSU in the FCS semifinals last season. On Sept. 16, MSU is back at home for a non-conference game against Stetson, which kicks at 1 p.m. and will air on SWX TV and ESPN+. The Cats then open Big Sky play with a 6 p.m. game at Weber State on Sept. 23. That game will be televised on MTN and ESPN+. MSU returns home to close out September with its homecoming game Sept. 30 against Portland State. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. and will air on MTN TV and ESPN+.

The Bobcats have their bye week Oct. 7 and return to action for a night game at home against Cal Poly Oct. 14. The kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on MTN TV and ESPN+. MSU then heads to Sacramento State for an ESPN2 showdown with the defending Big Sky champion Hornets Oct. 21. The game will kick off at 8:30 p.m. in Sacramento. MSU follows that up with a road trip to Idaho, Oct. 28, which will kick at 5 p.m. M.S.T. and be broadcast on MTN TV and ESPN+.

November will see MSU wrap up its home schedule with a 1 p.m. kickoff at home against Northern Arizona Nov. 4. That game is also on MTN and ESPN+, while the Cat’s home finale is set for Nov. 11 against Eastern Washington. Kickoff for MSU’s senior day game is set for 1 p.m. and will air on MTN and ESPN+.

The Montana Grizzlies have not released their full kickoff and TV schedule as of yet. But, the annual Brawl of the Wild is set for Nov. 18 in Missoula. Kickoff at Washington-Grizzly Stadium is set for noon and the game will air on MTN TV and ESPN+.
