Hi-Line well represented in 2023 Montana East-West Shrine Game

While the football season is still months away, football fans can still get to see some action with the Montana East-West Shrine Game this Saturday night. In Butte, some of the best high school football players from across the state of Montana will compete, including some familiar faces from the Hi-Line.

On the East Team, the 2022 Six-Man football champion Big Sandy Pioneers will be represented by Braydon Cline and Kody Strutz. Both Pioneers will play wide receiver in the game. Chinook will also be represented by Tyler Schoen in the all-star game. The Sugarbeeter will play inside linebacker for the East team.

The Hi-Line was also represented on the East team’s coaching staff.

Lewistown head coach Derek Lear will serve as the head coach of the East team in the game. Lear is coming off a season leading Lewistown to a state championship. Lear also played quarterback for the Montana State University-Northern football team.

But Lear will have the help of a pair of Havre High School football coaches on his staff in the game. HHS head coach Jake Eldridge will serve as an assistant coach on the team while HHS assistant coach Darold Debolt will also serve as an assistant coach for the East team.

The 76th Annual East-West Shrine Game will start at 7 p.m. Saturday at Naranche Stadium on the Butte High School campus. The game will be streamed on the local MTN Network.
