The leadership of Montana State University's flagship campus in Bozeman is going on a bus tour of the state June 20-22, with social events planned in Havre and Chester.

Today is the deadline to RSVP for the Tuesday, June 20, tour at Northern Agricultural Research Center at Fort Assinniboine south of Havre and the Wednesday, June 21, event at Liberty County Senior Citizens Center in Chester.

The event at NARC starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and the social in Chester starts at 11:30 a.m. next Wednesday.

Registration is required by today for the social gatherings at https://msuaf.org/Havre for the dinner or https://msuaf.org/Chester for the lunch.

This year's tour, with the theme of "Follow the Food Systems," will stop in Lewistown, Lodge Pole, Sweet Grass Hills, Shelby and Great Falls as well as Havre and Chester.

During the three-day, 690-mile trip, MSU leaders will meet with representatives from MSU Extension, the MSU Northern Ag Research Center and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, as well as farmers, ranchers, business owners and groups, including 4-H.

"Each MSU bus tour is centered on a particular region of the state to create enduring ties between the people and economies of Montana and its land-grant university. In its 10th year, we will connect with the last of all 56 counties in our great state," MSU President Waded Cruzado said. "We look forward to learning more about how Montana feeds its state and people across the world."

Established by Cruzado in 2012, the summer bus tour helps university leaders better understand the communities that are served by the university's land-grant mission by bringing them face-to-face with people all over the state.

Previous years' tour themes were "Follow the Grain," "Follow the Beef," "Follow the Energy," "Follow the Tourism," "Follow the Health and Wellness," "Follow the Arts and History," "Follow the People and Places of Northeast Montana," "Follow the Mountain and Valley Economies" and "Follow the Water."
