Best of the Class C to compete at state track and field meet

This weekend in Laurel, several schools from across the Hi-Line will compete at the Class C State Track and Field teams. As they compete over the weekend, District 9C schools and athletes will look to bring some hardware back to the Hi-Line.

Chinook heads to state after the girls team took first at the Northern C Divisional and the boys team took second at divisionals. Hallie Neibauer will head to state after taking first in the 800-meter dash and taking fifth in the 400-meter sprint at divisionals.

Anna Terry will look to run well at state after taking first in both the 1,600 and the 3,200-meter dash at divisionals. She also qualified for the 800. Neva Lowe should run well after taking third in the 3,200 and taking fifth in the 1,600 at divisionals.

Alexus Seymour will also run for the Sugarbeeters after taking third in both the 800 and the 1,600 at divisionals this past weekend. In the field events, Hannah Schoen will look to build off her third-place finish in the shot put and her sixth-place finish in the javelin at divisionals.

Belle Elliot will head to state to compete in the high jump. The Chinook 1,600 relay team will also compete at state after taking fourth at divisionals.

The Chinook boys team will also send many great athletes to state. Brenden Fetter is coming off divisionals where he took first in both the 100- and the 200-meter sprints. He will also compete in the long jump and the triple jump for the Sugarbeeters.

Braxton Inman will head to state after taking second in the 300-meter hurdles and sixth in the 200 at divisionals. Levi Jensen will also compete in the 110-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump this weekend. Carson Nissen will also head to state to compete in the 100 and the long jump.

Landen Beck will run in the 800 this weekend and his teammate Oliver Standiford will compete in the high jump. The Chinook boys team will also compete in both the 400 and the 1,600 relay events at state this weekend.

Fort Benton will also send many athletes to state after the girls team took fourth and the boys team took seventh at divisionals. From the girls team, Angeline Riener will head to state after taking first in the high jump and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles at state. Emerson Giese will head to state to compete in the 200 and the long jump.

Fellow Longhorn Etta Wicks will compete in the 100 and the long jump at state. Her teammate Sarah Clark will compete in the javelin while Kylynn Nack will compete in the pole vault this weekend. The Fort Benton girls team will also run in both the 400 and the 1,600 relays this weekend.

From the Fort Benton boys team, Nathan Dunham will head to state after taking fourth in the 200 and sixth in the 100 at divisionals. Brock Grossman will also head to state to compete in the 400. The Fort Benton boys team will also run in both the 400 and the 1,600 relays this weekend.

The North Star Knights will be represented at the state meet this weekend. Carter Campbell will run in the 800, the 1,600 and the 3,200 this weekend. In the pole vault, Travis Otto and Chris Burkhartsmayer will represent the Knights. Gavin Clawson will throw in the shot put after taking second at divisionals.

From the North Star girls team, Rainee Watson will compete in both the javelin and the discus. Her teammate Kaytlyn Domire will throw in the shot put this weekend and fellow Knight Alyssa Lavery will compete in the pole vault.

The Big Sandy Pioneers will send some athletes to the state meet this weekend. From the Big Sandy girls team, Alex Worrall will run in both the 800 and the 1,600 this weekend. Her teammate Eva Yeadon qualified for both the javelin and the 300-meter hurdles.

In the triple jump, Jaihven Baumann and Malaysia Baumann will both represent the Pioneers. In the 1,600 relay, the Big Sandy girls team qualified after taking fifth at divisionals.

From the Big Sandy boys team, Wylee Snapp will compete in both the shot put and the discus. Cooper Taylor also qualified for the javelin after taking first at divisionals this past weekend.

Fellow Pioneer Kody Strutz will compete in the triple jump this weekend. In the 400 relay, the Big Sandy boys team qualified after taking sixth at divisionals last weekend.

Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks will be sending several athletes to state this weekend. From the girls team, MaRae Smail will compete in both the high jump and the discus. Her teammate Jayla Ramberg qualified for the triple jump after taking second at divisionals.

Brie Mattson will run in the 200 while her teammate Tara Carter will run in the 3,200. The CJI girls team will also run in both the 400 and the 1,600 relay events this weekend.

From the CJI boys team, Cooper Streit will compete in the 3,200 after taking third at divisionals. He will also run in the 800 and the 1,600 this weekend. Braden Mattson will compete in both the long jump and the javelin while his teammate Ryland St. John will compete in the 110-meter hurdles this weekend.

Other athletes from the 9C will compete at the state meet this weekend. Turner's Bridget Reed will run in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles this weekend. She will also run in the 100, the 200 and the 400. Turner's Ryan Doyle will run in both the 400 and the 800 this weekend. Meiyah Oats will represent Box Elder as she will compete in the high jump this weekend.

With all these athletes from the Hi-Line competing against the best from the rest of the state, there should be some exciting competition to end the season. The Class C State Track and Field Meet will begin this Thursday in Laurel.
