Registration for Montana Farmers Union’s newest Book Club selection “For the Love of Soil” by Nicole Masters is now open.
Limited complimentary copies courtesy of MFU are available when people register. Participants must register separately for each Book Club selection.
“For the Love of Soil” is the Book Club’s second selection. More than 50 people registered for the club’s first selection of “The Farmer’s Lawyer” by Sarah Vogel, and many of the club members joined in a live Zoom Q&A with Vogel in May.
Both Book Club selections are agriculture-centric, and serve to engage Book Club members in conversation and community around agriculture and rural life.
“The MFU book club is off to a great start. More than 20 folks were able to join us on the Zoom, where we had lively and engaged discussions about ‘The Farmer’s Lawyer,’ and Sarah Vogel spoke about her experience fighting for family farmers during the 1980s farm crisis and why family farm advocacy is so important,” MFU Member Services Director Rachel Prevost said.
While reading the newest selection, club participants will learn a roadmap to healthy soil and revitalized food systems to address current challenges. “For the Love of Soil” equips producers with knowledge, skills and insights to regenerate ecosystem health and grow farm and ranch profits.
“We are looking forward to the new topic that the book covers, and to providing members and non-members alike with the chance to gather, ask questions and discuss the book as we all glean insight, learn about our soil and examine our food production systems,” Prevost said.
