This past weekend in Sidney, the Havre High track and field teams got the postseason started with the Eastern A Divisional Meet. Against some tough competition to begin the postseason, the HHS girls team finished second while the HHS boys team finished fifth in its meet.
In the girls meet, the Blue Ponies scored 92 total points to finish second. Laurel won the girls meet with 135 total points while Hardin finished third with 85 total points. Over the course of the meet, several Ponies on the girls teams performed well to start the postseason.
Kyanna Jarvis had a strong meet as she took first in the high jump with a measurement of 5-00 and she took second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.04.
Kaydance Reiter ran well as she took second in the 100-meter sprint with a time of 13.23, and she took second in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 26.35.
Macy Brandon had a strong meet as she took third in the 100, the 200 and the 400-meter dash. She recorded a time of 13.43 in the 100, a time of 26.50 in the 200 and a time of 1:00.74 in the 400.
Macee May took third in the long jump with a measurement of 16-07.5 and she took fourth in the triple jump with a measurement of 33-05.75. Sierra Parker took second in the triple jump with a measurement of 33-06.5, and Clara Laird took third in the javelin with a distance of 108-06.
In the 100, Carolyn Thomas took fourth with a time of 13.43. In the pole vault, Taylor Leeds finished fifth with a measurement of 9-00.
The HHS girls team also ran well in the relay events. In the 400 relay, the team of Brandon, May, Jarvis and Reiter took third with a time of 50.95. In the 1,600 relay, the team of Brandon, Thomas, Jarvis and Reiter took third with a time of 4:16.20.
The HHS boys team took fifth in its meet with 52 total points. Laurel won the boys meet with 105.83 total points while Billings Central took second and Lewistown took third. Many Ponies had strong performances in the meet to qualify for the state meet.
Caleb Tomac ran well as he took first in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:58.43 and he took first in the 1,600-meter dash with a time of 4:28.59. Tomac also took third in the 3,200-meter dash with a time of 9:52.37. His teammate Brody Henry also ran well as he took second in the 800 with a time of 1:59.37 and he took sixth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:39.15.
The Ponies also ran well in the sprints. Brayden Kimberling took third in the 100 with a time of 11.49 and he took fourth in the 200 with a time of 22.73. In the 400, Trayden Riley took fifth with a time of 52.62.
It was another strong meet in the relay events for the HHS boys team. In the 400 relay, the team of Kimberling, Brisbin Reiter, Shane Patacsill and Carson Harris finished fourth with a time of 44.48. In the 1,600 relay, the team of Patacsil, Riley, Jacob Herring and Michael Emge took sixth with a time of 3:38.24.
All of these athletes as well as many other Ponies have now qualified for the Class A State Meet later this week. The state meet will begin this Thursday in Laurel.
