Registration is open for the MFU Day Camp to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church Youth Center in Chester.
The long-running camp is free and open to children ages 5-12.
"It's a jam-packed, fun-filled day to get their summer started," said Charlotte Kelly, who organizes the camp.
Kelly, a longtime Montana Farmers Union member, said her boys went to day camps and then Arrowpeak summer camps through MFU.
"I think, by doing the camps, it really does expand kids' circle of interest," Kelly said.
Each year, Kelly brings in a lineup of local leaders and experts to talk about things such as natural resources, flag etiquette, cooperative principles, and agriculture. The day also includes plenty of time for crafts and games.
"I try to find things that are in the neighborhood that relate to what kids see," Kelly said.
"We live in a very agricultural area, and I think it's important kids realize the reason there are things in the store is because we have things outside the store making sure there are things in the store," she added.
Campers should plan to bring a packed lunch and water bottle to the free camp.
To register or for more information, people can call Kelly at 406-390-4469 or email her at [email protected].
