Postseason track and field finally arrives on the Hi-Line with the District 9C Track Meet this Wednesday. At the Havre Middle School Track, athletes from Fort Benton, Chinook, Box Elder, Chester-Joplin-Inverness, North Star, Big Sandy, Turner and Hays-Lodge Pole will compete in order to qualify for next week's Northern C Divisional meet in Great Falls.
Every event should see some strong competition. In the boys 100-meter sprint, Brenden Fetter and Braxton Inman will represent Chinook while Fort Benton's Nathan Dunham and Big Sandy's Cooper Taylor will also compete in the event. Fetter should be the favorite with a personal record of 11.40 in the event.
In the boys 200-meter sprint, Taylor should be favored with a personal record of 23.85. He will compete against Inman, Dunham and Fort Benton's Truman Giese. In the boys 400-meter sprint, Fort Benton will be well represented with Brock Grossman, Landis Arganbright, Eli Arganbright and David Olson competing. Rya Doyle from Turner will also run in the 400.
In the boys 800-meter dash, Doyle will compete against Eli Arganbright, Landen Beck from Chinook, Carter Campbell from North Star and Cooper Streit from CJI. In the boys 1,600-meter dash, Streit, Campbell, Chinook's Britt Powell, Turner's Trent Billmayer and CJI's Jadon Sullivan will compete against one another. The boys 3,200-meter dash will see Streit race against the likes of Campbell, Beck, Chinook's Corey Bilger and Fort Benton's Trevor O'Hara.
Chinook's Levi Jensen should be favored in the boys 110-meter hurdles with a personal record of 16.83. He will compete against North Star's Xander Searles, CJI's Ryland St. John, North Star's Sebastien Mansfield and Box Elder's Tracen Jilot. In the 300-meter hurdles, Inman, Jensen, Sullivan, Searles and North Star's Luke Stevenson will race one another.
In the boys 400 relay, the Chinook team of Inman, Carson Nissen, Tyler Schoen and Brenden Fetter should be favored with a record of 45.23 this season. In the boys 1,600 relay, the Fort Benton team of Dunham, Grossman, Olson and Landis Arganbright will look to run well.
There will be many competitive events in the field as well. In the boys shot put, Big Sandy's Wylee Snapp will compete against Schoen, North Star's Gavin Clawson, HLP's William Has the Eagle and Fort Benton's Gavin Schmele. In the boys discus, Snapp will compete against Taylor, Clawson, Schmele and Big Sandy's Ryder Galbavy.
Taylor should be favored in the boys javelin with a personal record of 151-08.5 He will compete against Olson, CJI's Braden Mattson, North Star's Chris Burkartsmayer and CJI's Dane Grammar. In the boys high jump, Jilot will compete against the likes of Jensen, Fetter, Chinook's Oliver Standiford and HLP's Cash Messerly.
Fort Benton's Teagan Reimer should be favored in the boys pole vault with a personal record of 10-06. He will compete against Searles, Sullivan, O'Hara and Fort Benton's Morgan Axtman. In the boys long jump, Fetter, Mattson, Nissen, Jensen and Fort Benton's Truman Giese will compete against one another. In the boys triple jump, Fetter, St. John, Jensen, CJI's Ty Backen and Big Sandy's Kody Strutz will compete against one another.
The girls track meet should also see plenty of competitive events. In the girls 100, Fort Benton's Etta Wicks should be the favorite with a personal record of 13.48. She will compete against the likes of CJI's Brie Mattson, CJI's Jayla Ramberg, Fort Benton's Emerson Giese and Big Sandy's Carmen Tan. In the girls 200, Mattson, Wicks, Giese, Ramberg and Chinook's Hallie Neibauer will race one another.
In the girls 400, Neibauer, Mattson, Wicks, Giese and Chinook's Alexus Seymour will compete against one another. Neibauer, Seymour, Big Sandy's Alex Worrall, Chinook's Neva Lowe and Big Sandy's Angela Sant will race in the girls 800.
In the girls 1,600, Chinook's Anna Terry should be favored with a personal record of 5:39.23. She will race against Lowe, Worrall, Sant and CJI's Mariah Ramberg. In the girls 3,200, Terry, Worrall, CJI's Tara Carter, North Star's Madelyn Myers and HLP's Rylee Martin will compete.
In the girls 100-meter hurdles, Turner's Bridget Reed will compete against Fort Benton's Angeline Riener, Big Sandy's Malaysia Baumann, Big Sandy's Jaihven Baumann and CJI's Brynn Kamerzell. In the girls 300-meter hurdles, Reed, Mattson, Big Sandy's Kaya Demontiney, Big Sandy's Mattie Gasvoda and Big Sandy's Jenny Sant will race each other.
In the girls 400 relay, the Fort Benton team of Giese, Riener, Wicks and Sarah Clark should be favored with a personal record of 53.82. In the girls 1,600 relay, that same team should be the favorite with a personal best of 4:37.76.
In the girls shot put, North Star's Kaytlyn Domire should be favored with a personal best of 33-02.5 this season. She will compete against Fort Benton's Kylynn Nack, Chinook's Hannah Schoen, Fort Benton's Kaydyn LeFurgey and Chinook's Sarah Gillett. In the girls discus, Domire, Schoen, North Star's Rainee Watson, CJI's MaRae Smail and Big Sandy's Brianna Terry will compete.
Watson, Domire, Nack, Big Sandy's Eva Yeadon and Big Sandy's Keira Galbavy will compete against one another in the girls javelin. The girls high jump should also be competitive as Riener, Smail, Yeadon, Brynn Kammerzell and Box Elder's Meiyah Oats will compete.
The girls pole vault will see Nack, Watson, Carter, North Star's Ecko Fraser and North Star's Quinn Trueax compete against one another. Riener, Wicks, Giese, Oats and Jaihven Baumann will compete in the girls long jump. In the girls triple jump, Ramberg, Mattson, Smail, Malaysia Baumann and Jaihven Baumann will compete against one another.
After several weeks competing in meets, athletes in the District 9C are ready to see their hard work pay off as they begin the postseason. With a spot in the Northern C Divisional Track Meet on the line, local fans should see some strong competition Wednesday.
The District 9C Track Meet will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Havre Middle School Track.
