Havre tennis teams pick up wins at Mayfair Invitational

This past Saturday in Billings, the Havre High tennis teams continued their season with the Mayfair Invitational. The HHS girls tennis team had a strong meet as it went 3-0 in its duals while the HHS boys team went 1-2.

The HHS girls team won its dual, 6-1, against Livingston. In singles, Rayna Johnson continued her strong season by winning, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3), over her opponent. Chloe Bricker did well in her singles match as she won, 6-4, 6-7 (7-3), 10-5. Lindsey Leinwand also did well as she won, 6-3, 6-3, over Gracie Peterson.

The Ponies also did well in doubles against Livingston. In their match, Bricker and Cat Kaftan won 2-6, 7-6 (7-3), 10-7. Emerald Tinsley and Mylee Shennum also picked up a win as they won 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. Heather Herring and Alera Chandler made it a sweep in doubles against Livingston as they won their match 6-4, 6-4.

The HHS girls team then defeated Billings Central, 4-3, in a dual. The Ponies picked up all their wins in singles. Johnson won, 6-2, 6-2, and Bricker won her match 7-5, 7-5. Amaya Bliwernitz got in the win column with a 6-3, 6-3 victory and Leinwand defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-3.

The HHS girls team also defeated East Helena 4-3. In singles, Johnson won, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, against Amber Stevenson. Bliwernitz won her singles match 4-6, 6-3 (10-7). In doubles, Tinsley and Shennum won 6-4, 4-6 (10-7). In their match, Chandler and Herring won 6-3, 6-2.

In its dual against Glendive, the HHS boys team lost 4-3. In singles, Carter Spangler won, 6-2, 6-3, against Tristen Jarvis. In doubles, the duo of Max Spangler and Jackson Headdress won their match 6-2, 3-6, 10-7. Carter Chagnon and Mason Kinsella won their doubles match 6-4, 6-2.

The HHS boys team also suffered a 5-2 loss in its dual against Miles City. Spangler won another singles match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Charlie Lang. In another singles match, Gavin Hall won 4-6, 6-2, 12-10.

The HHS boys team did win, 5-2, in its dual against Livingston. Spangler won again with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory. Hall won his match, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7, and Ronin Olsen got a win in singles with a 5-7, 6-2 victory. In doubles, Spangler and Headdress won, 6-4, 6-3, and Kinsella and Chagnon won 6-3, 6-4.

The HHS tennis teams will continue the season with the Fergus County Invite in Lewistown this Friday. The Ponies will then compete in the Custer County Invite in Miles City Saturday.
