School board election results in

The unofficial election results for local school boards are in, with local districts announcing new returning board members as well as the results of local levy requests.

While Turner Public Schools and Chinook Public Schools canceled their elections, holding the elections by acclamation for unopposed candidates, many others had votes for school board members as well as levies. These results are unofficial until the elections are officially canvassed by their respective districts.

In Havre Tyler Gibson, Kevin Johnson and Timothy Scheele won seats on the Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees with 1,363 votes, 1,557 votes and 1,222 votes respectively.

Incumbent board chair Curtis Smeby got 575 votes and Tim Brurud got 865.

The new elementary school levy also passed 1,212 to 864.

In Harlem, Jackie Blackbird and Mike King have won the two board seats up for election this year with 136 and 126 votes respectively with Jonathan Walker and Dean A. Doney Jr. getting 98 votes and 94 votes respectively.

Hays-Lodge Pole elected Louis Werk to a three-year term with 137 votes with Ken Morin getting 38 votes, while Joshua Werk won a one-year term with 92 votes compared with Hawkan Haakason with 62.

North Star Schools elected Derek Fraser to a three-year term with 488 votes with Devin Grammar coming in a close second with 477 votes. Jed Didier got 117 votes and Ron Cory got 34 votes.

Nicole Seidlitz won a two-year term at North Star with 276 votes, with Kristi Olson coming in at 191 and Gerald Kulpas at 178.

All three of the district’s levies were approved by substantial margins with the elementary general fund levy getting 225 votes for and 74 against, the elementary building reserve levy getting 200 votes for and 106 against and the high school building reserve levy getting 221 votes for and 109 votes against.

Big Sandy elected Matthew Myers and Jessica Sheehy with 249 votes and 264 votes respectively, while Joe Jurenka got 121 and Glenn Terry got 136.

Box Elder Schools and Rocky Boy Schools hadn’t responded to requests for election results by print deadline this morning.
