Havre's best to compete at North/East Top 10

The Havre High track and field teams just competed in the Whitefish ARM Invitational this past weekend, but several Blue Ponies will be right back at it with the North/East Top Ten Meet in Glasgow tonight. Even though they will be facing some tough competition, HHS head coach Kari Filius expects her athletes to do well.

"We have quite a few kids that qualified and I'm expecting some really good performances there," Filius said.

In the 100-meter sprint, Brayden Kimberling qualified with a time of 11.32. He also qualified for the 200-meter sprint with a time of 23.29. His teammate Michael Emge also qualified for the 200 with a time of 23.75.

Caleb Tomac qualified for the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:02.94 and the 1,600-meter dash with a time of 4:33.12. Tomac also qualified for the 3,200-meter dash with a time of 9:57.62. Brody Henry also qualified for the meet with a time of 2:03.08 in the 800 and a time of 4:38.26 in the 1,600.

Several other Ponies qualified for the meet. Trayden Riley qualified for the 400-meter sprint with a time of 53.38 and Jacob Herring qualified for the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.87. Kale Van Campen qualified for the triple jump with a measurement of 40-05.

The Ponies also got several boys relay teams qualified for the meet. In the 400 relay, the team of Van Campen, Kimberling, Brisbin Reiter and Carson Harris qualified with a time of 45.41. In the same event, the team of Reiter, Riley, Harris and Kimberling qualified with a time of 45.46. In the 1,600 relay, the team of Herring, Emge, Riley and Shane Patacsil qualified with a time of 3:40.12. In the same event, the team of Tomac, Henry, Patacsil and Deven Tyler qualified with a time of 3:41.85.

Many Ponies from the HHS girls team also qualified for the Top 10 meet. Kaydance Reiter qualified for the 100 with a time of 12.71 and she qualified for the 200 with a time of 26.53. Ela Harbor qualified for the 100 with a time of 13.13 and Macy Brandon qualified for the 400 with a time of 1:01.19.

Kyanna Jarvis qualified in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.39 and she qualified in the high jump with a measurement of 5-02. Amaya Jarvis qualified in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.97 and Ari Gary qualified in the high jump with a measurement of 5-00.

Clara Laird qualified for the Ponies in the javelin with a measurement of 107-07. In the 400 relay, the HHS girls team of Reiter, Kyanna, Carolyn Thomas and Macee May qualified with a time of 50.98.

Many other Ponies will compete against quality competition tonight. Many schools from across the region will be sending their best athletes to this meet. At the meet, the Ponies will compete against schools such as Chinook, Dodson, Froid-Medicine Lake, Glasgow, Harlem, Hays-Lodge Pole, Malta, Plentywood, Poplar, Saco, Scobey, Sidney, Turner and Wolf Point. With the chance to compete against all these schools, Filius and her top athletes look forward to seeing how they fare.

"A lot of good individuals are going to be there so it will be fun," Filius said. "Our kids really look forward to it."

The Norm Girard North/East Top 10 Meet will begin today starting at 3 p.m. in Glasgow.
