At the Whitefish ARM Invitational this past Saturday, the Havre High track and field teams had another strong performance this season. In both the boys and girls meets, the Blue Ponies finished third.
“We did a really good job. We competed well, the kids had fun, we got to see a couple of really good teams and competed well against them,” HHS head coach Kari Filius said. “We had a lot of PRs and a couple more pre-qualified times from different people.”
The HHS girls team took third with 98 total points. Columbia Falls took first in the girls meet with 117 total points and Bigfork took second. Several Ponies had strong performances to lead the HHS girls team to success.
Kyanna Jarvis took first in the high jump with a measurement of 5-00 and she finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.39. Amaya Jarvis finished first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.97 and Macee May took first in the triple jump with a measurement of 33-09.5.

As the calendar turns to May, the Ponies only have a few more weeks until the postseason begins. As the postseason approaches, Filius believes the Ponies are on the right track to be at their best when that date arrives.
“We’re progressing nicely. Every track meet, we get more kids pre-qualifying for state,” Filius said. “Every meet, it seems that for the most part, we’re getting better and faster and stronger.”
The HHS track and field teams will continue the season with the North/East Top 10 Meet in Glasgow this Tuesday.
