Leadership Montana flagship class visits Havre

The Leadership Montana Flagship class will be in Havre this week. This is a class of 40 leaders from across Montana representing business, healthcare, labor, education, non-profits and government coming together to form a strong partnership for the betterment of our state.

While here this week, they will learn about Havre and also have an opportunity to explore our community and Rocky Boy through tours and engagement with local leaders.

At the center of Leadership Montana’s work is the flagship program, an eight-month educational experience offering participants a unique opportunity to develop strong leadership skills along with personal and professional growth.

Every month from September to April, each Flagship class of about 40 participants meets in a new Montana community to gain a deeper awareness of issues affecting our state, build powerful connections with their classmates, and connect with a network of committed alumni who live and work throughout Montana.

Through this unique educational programming, the program gathers some of the most accomplished minds to deeply discuss current issues facing Montana. At the same time, participants enhance their own leadership skills through the curriculum, Leading in Montana, designed specifically around the class members’ interests and needs.

Once participants complete the program, they join the esteemed alumni network consisting of the state’s most influential professionals. With an increased awareness and a commitment to service, the alumni shape Montana’s future with enhanced leadership skills and a deepened knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing Montana.

There are several local alumni of the Leadership Montana program including Jim Bennett, Christen Obresley, Jennifer Dees, Tracey Jette, Joel Rosette and Jim Swan and there is a current Havre participant in the class from Northern Montana Hospital, Adam Derby, administrator of Northern Montana Care Center. Debbie Vandeberg an alumnus of the first Leadership Montana class of 2004 is currently serving on the Board of Governors as this year’s chair.
