Now is the time the Havre High tennis teams are looking to hit their stride.
For the next five weeks, the Blue Ponies will be looking to build for the Northeast A Divisional Tournament, and they'll do it against a bunch of familiar foes.
Havre is in Hardin this weekend, a tournament the Ponies added to the schedule last season.
Havre will dual the likes of Hardin, Miles City, Billings Central, and more while at the two-day Hardin Invite, which features all of the Eastern A. The Ponies should also get a look at Livingston and other Class A foes while in Hardin - weather permitting.
And while the weather continues to be the talk of the spring, Havre has somehow managed to get all of its matches in this far, including four competitive duals last weekend in Cut Bank.
At last weekend's Class A Invite, the Havre boys got strong showings from top singles player Carter Spangler as well as the new doubles teams of Conner McKay and Reid Kato and Max Spangler and Jackson Headdress.
Havre's girls also had a great showing in Cut Bank, including great play from senior Kate Hemmer, as well as the continued winning ways of the senior duo of Courtney Burchard and Cat Kaftan, as well as the tandem of Emerald Tinsely and Mylee Shennum.
This weekend, head coach Jeff Miller's teams will be short-handed because of District Music Festival, but other squads will be as well, and at this point, just playing is the ultimate goal, as the weather continues to be a pain in the net of not only the Pony tennis teams, but all of spring sports in Montana.
Havre will also be starting a busy stretch of tennis with its five duals in Hardin. The Ponies will then turn around and travel to Great Falls Tuesday for three duals before heading to the Glendive Invitational next weekend.
