Obituary - Anna Mae Maxwell

Anna Mae Maxwell, 86, passed away due to natural causes at the Northern Montana Care Center Monday, April 10, 2023.

Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time.

Anna Mae's family has suggested memorial donations be made in her memory to the Friends of Beaver Creek Park or the charity of the donor's choice.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Anna Mae was born on March 15, 1937, in Havre to Carl and Lillian (Gardener) Nelson, the first of five children. She was raised in Havre, graduating from Havre High School in 1955. Anna Mae worked in a secretarial/bookkeeping capacity for several companies around town before obtaining her position at US Bank, where she remained until her retirement in 1993.

August 19, 1956, Anna Mae married Ray Maxwell, and the couple made their home in Havre, where they raised their two children.

Anna Mae was an outgoing, chatty lady who loved to shop, listen to music, and remain at home. When she was younger, she and the family enjoyed camping. More recently, Anna Mae was exploring genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Maxwell; parents, Carl and Lillian Nelson; brothers, Roy and Bill Nelson; and sister Donna Lee Williams.

Anna Mae is survived by her children, Kenneth (Betty) Maxwell and Rae Ann (Dale) Hansonl, all of Havre; two grandchildren, Amber (Garrit) Ophus and Angela (Dustan) Nyberg; three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Jaida and Luke Ophus; sister Carol (Bob) Armer of Stillwell, KS; brother-in-law Wayne Maxwell of Chinook; and numerous nieces and nephews.
