News you can use
And just like that, golf in Havre is finally underway.
Though the weather is still unstable at best, golfers are officially back on the links.
Both Prairie Farms Golf Course and Beaver Creek Golf Course held their openings last weekend. Under some good conditions, both courses held up well through all the spring moisture — which isn’t over yet — and the flooding that has occurred along the Hi-Line recently.
So, with golf courses open now, here’s hoping to a better second half of spring.
Both Prairie Farms and BCGC also held their Men’s League meetings recently. I’ll have more information for you all as leagues get ready to begin.
That said, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind league secretaries to email me weekly results by Sunday, as this column will normally be published every Tuesday throughout the season. Results I’m looking for include individual low gross and net, high team for the night, with names, and up-to-date league standings. Send any other info you feel is pertinent as well, and I love pictures, too.
I would also ask courses to please send me tournament schedules, and other events you’d like covered in this column. All information needs to be sent to [email protected].
Lastly, the Montana State University-Northern men’s and women’s golf teams are playing this week in the Frontier Conference Championships in Las Vegas. The tournament is being held at prestigious Reflection Bay in Henderson. I’ve heard it’s a great course, and is a great reward for all golfers who play in the Frontier after a horrible winter and spring. So I’ll have full results from the Frontier tourney in next week’s From Tee to Green.
