Margaret "Marge" "Speedy" Gonzales Christensen, 97, a long-time Havre resident, passed away March 26, 2023, in Missoula, Mt.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held Friday May 19, 2023, at St. Jude Thaddeus Church at 11:00 a.m.

Marge was born in Chicago, Illinois, January 10, 1926, to Faustino B. Gonzales and Julia Oliaz Gonzales. At the age of 4, the family moved to Savage, Mt, where she started school. Later, they moved to Sidney, where she grew up on a farm and graduated from Sidney High School.
She attended and graduated from nursing school at Presentations Holy Rosary in Miles City, Mt. Marge did her pre-clinical nursing in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and psychiatric nursing at Warm Springs State Hospital. After receiving her Registered Nursing degree, she returned to Sidney and worked at Community Hospital as an office nurse for Dr Robert Hyde.
At a dance in Fairview, Mt, she met Leonard (Chris) Christensen, a handsome Army reservist. They married December 30, 1950, and were blessed with three beautiful children. In October 1955, the family moved to Havre, where she continued her career as a staff nurse at Deaconess and Sacred Heart hospitals, office nurse for Dr Franken and Dr. Brewer, Public Health Nurse for Hill County, and as staff nurse at the Havre Clinic with Dr. Robert McCroskey, retiring in 1987.
Marge and Chris retired to Kalispell, Mt. While living there, she became a member of St. Mathews Parish, Glacier Orchestra and Choral Society, Glacier Jazz Society, Eagles Auxiliary, and the VFW.
In 1999, she and Chris returned to Havre.
Marge enjoyed her many friends, music, gardening, singing, dancing, cooking, and baking for her family and all others! She joined St Jude Choir, Catholic Daughters, a prayer group, the Renew scripture group, and the Havre Community Concert Association. After Chris died, she spent numerous years in Ajo, AZ, and Kalispell with her companion Thomas Reese.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Leonard Christensen; her parents, Faustino and Julia Gonzales; siblings, Bob (Betty) Gonzales, Mary (George) Garcia, Jen Green, Henry (Agnus) Gonzales, Rudy Gonzales, and Josie (Vern) Baily.
She is survived by her children, Colleen (Don) Bulman, Kristine Christensen (John Tibbetts), and Rick Christensen (Ron Cowie); grandchildren, Kevin Tibbetts (Ellie Julson) and Eric (Andrew) Sinclair Tibbetts; brother-in-law Bill Green; sister-in-law Darlene Gonzales, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Thaddeus School and Parish, Big Sky Hospice, 1900 S Reserve St Missoula, Mt 59801, or The International Association for the Preservation of Tortilla Making (I.A.P.T.M).
