Montanan advocates for ag through colorful children's books

Press release

As the world becomes more interested in where their food comes from, the spotlight turns on the farmers and ranchers. Historically, there has become a disconnect between urban and rural understandings of food production and agriculture. People have seen the difficulties that can arise when discussing environment and the climate.

Communications between producers and consumers contributes to a more resilient and innovative supply chain, which strengthens the agricultural community. Happy Ranch Wife Productions is committed to providing a vehicle for those communications, starting at the family level, through children's books.

The third book by author anf illustrator Tammi Fladager has just been released, "Carol Drives a Tractor," which is based on the real-life story of one woman who conquers a non-traditional role on the family farm in northeast Montana. The book is a fun picture book that is guaranteed to bring a giggle at the end. Its simplicity and lightheartedness delivers multiple messages, including gender not always being a job qualification, land stewardship, and work ethics just to name a few.

"The Noisy Ranch," and "What Do Ranchers Do?" also follow the theme of real-life agricultural experiences with engaging pictures and topics for the little ones.

"Kolitiska's Pumpkin Patch" will be released late this summer and is based on the pumpkin patch of the same name in Sheridan, Wyoming. This will be followed by "Grandma Marla's Chickens."

These books will make wonderful gifts for children, grandchildren, urban or rural. People can help spread the good news about agriculture and support the communication efforts of our culture.
