What another incredible season it was for girls basketball teams on the Hi-Line.
Another state championship in Havre, another incredible run by area Class C teams. Yes, girls basketball was again wildly successful this winter
And the 2023 Havre Daily News All Hi-Line Girls Team reflects just how good girls hoops is around these parts.
The team is composed of a veteran group of area players, including a host of Blue Ponies. Overall, there are four repeat performers on the list this year, while seniors took up eight spots and, overall, there were 10 upperclassmen on the list. There's also two freshmen that make up the team, both of which have the chance to become four-time honorees.
Yelena Miller, Havre High
Despite missing much of the season with a foot injury, when Miller came back, she was as dominant as dominant could be. She averaged over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in helping Havre win its third straight Class A state championship. Miller is also a three-time selection to the All-Hi-Line Team, as she is a three-time All-State selection as well.
Laynie Sattoriva, North Star
Making her third straight appearance on the All Hi-Line Team, Sattoriva helped the Knights to a great regular season, and a trip to the Northern C. Averaging over 19 points per night, she earned a third straight Class C All-State honor, and was a four-time All 9C selection.
Avery Carlson. Havre High
Carlson made the All Hi-Line Team for the third year in a row as well. She too missed time due to injuries, but she still had an All-State season, her third in a row, while scoring more than 10 points per night for the state champion Blue Ponies. Carlson will wind up her senior year by being selected Class A All-State in three sports for three straight seasons, as she is a standout in volleyball and softball as well.
Hallie Neibauer, Chinook
Neibauer is on the list for the third straight season. Just a junior, she averaged over 20 points and nine rebounds per game for the Sugarbeeters, who won the 9C title, and reached the Class C state tournament for the first time in more than a decade. Neibauer is also a three-time All-State standout who excels in volleyball and track and field as well. She's also the third member of her family to make the All Hi-Line Team.
Emerson Giese, Fort Benton
Missing most of last season with an injury, Giese had a huge ending to a brilliant career at Fort Benton. She earned Class C honors for the third time, and helped the Longhorns finish third in both the 9C and Northern C tournaments while averaging 18 points per game over the course of the season. She joins sister Aspen as another set of siblings to make the All Hi-Line Team.
Amaya Jarvis, Havre High
She burst onto the scene by averaging 15 points per game in her first five high school outings, and she never looked back. Now Jarvis has a chance to become a four-time member of the All Hi-Line Team. She also earned Class A All-State honors in her first season, while helping the Blue Ponies to a state championship.
Eva Yeadon, Big Sandy
Yeadon was a scoring machine for the much-improved Pioneers this winter. Averaging almost 20 points per game, she helped Big Sandy to their best 9C finish in more than 10 years. She also earned All-State honors this year in both basketball and volleyball.
Alexus Seymour, Chinook
It was quite the year for the Sugarbeeters and Seymour was a big reason. The sophomore poured in nearly 15 points per night and was a tenacious rebounder for the 9C champion Beeters. Seymour joins her brother Lane as more siblings to make this list, while she also earned All-State honors.
Meiyah Oats, Box Elder
An up-and-down season for the Bears was the case, but Oats, a senior, was a steady force. In earning All-State honors for the Bears, Oats scored 14 points and averaged eight rebounds per game this winter.
Casha Corder, Fort Benton
The second Longhorn to make the list, Corder had a standout season where she averaged double figures and earned All 9C and Northern C accolades, while helping Fort Benton to yet another outstanding year.
Bree Swanson, Chinook
The Beeters had an exciting year, and Swanson is the third deserving Beeter to make the All Hi-Line Team. In her final year in Chinook, she averaged 11 points, while earning All-Conference honors in both volleyball and hoops.
Ariana Gary, Havre High
Gary is the second Havre High freshman to make the All Hi-Line Team, and she also has the distinction of being on the All Hi-Line Team in the same season as a sibling on the boys team, her brother Tre, did the same. Gary averaged nearly 10 points and nine rebounds for the state champion Ponies, while earning All-State accolades in the process.
Eva Wagoner, Big Sandy
Wagoner is the second Pioneer to make the lis,. Before suffering an injury in the final game of the regular season, she was averaging almost 17 points per game for the much-improved Pioneers. For her efforts, she earned All 9C honors, while also being named All-Conference in volleyball as well.
