Chinook holds successful blood drive

From Carla Jenewein

Red Cross local

blood drive coordinator

The Chinook community hosted the Red Cross blood drive Tuesday, March 7th.

We had 47 donors presenting with 44 productive units on a goal of 44. Great job everyone.

We had three first-time donors, Laura Pruttis, Jackson Nordboe and Ryle Elliott. We hope this was the first of many donations for you. Elmer Zarn reached 20 gallons, Don Ross 18 gallons, Ann Davies 14 gallons, Faye Friede 4 gallons, Kurt Jenewein 3 gallons, Cindy Haney 3 gallons, Brooke Pruttis 2 gallons and Jennifer Metcalf 1 gallon.

The canteen was hosted by The American Lutheran Church. The hard work and time that goes into all the homemade sandwiches, snacks and sweet treats is always appreciated and enjoyed by all. Connie Stanley, Sharon LaPlant, Terry Grabofsky and Mildred Dawson spent the afternoon in the kitchen keeping those goodie plates full.

To all those volunteering their time and energy to help get and keep the drive running smoothly, please know that your efforts are greatly appreciated: Deb Ramberg for providing the site for the drive at the Chinook community commercial building. Linda Thompson, Roxanne Townsend and Terry Townsend for preparing the site for the Red Cross. Linda Thompson and Roxanne Townsend for greeting and registering all the donors on the day of the drive. Paulette Keller from the North Central Montana Cattlewomen for delivering the beef certificates. Chrissy Downs and JUMP for cleanup.

Door Prizes were provided by the American Lutheran Church, and North Central Montana Cattlewomen. Taking home door prices were Stacey Hasler-Elliot, Faye Friede, Mark Weber, Jennifer Metcalf, Ann Davies, Perry Alcorn and Eleesha Bell.

To each and every one of you, your willingness to donate and to participate in one way or another is greatly appreciated. It couldn't be done without you. If I have forgotten someone, I sincerely apologize and please, don't hesitate to let me know.

Elmer Zarn 20 gallons, Kurt Jenewein 3 gallons, Jackson Nordboe first time, Ryle Elliott first time.
