Consider using spring cleaning to help Northern students

Press release

It may not look like spring outside, but it is the season for spring cleaning, and Montana State University-Northern is looking for items people might be removing during their spring cleaning.

“If you are using your spring break to declutter or have items you have been meaning to take to a donation center, please consider donating items to the MSUN Community Center,” the university Community Center said in a release.

Donation boxes will be set up inside the SUB building on the MSUN campus, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 p.m. this week, March 20-24.

The Community Center accepts donations for the Food Pantry, the Dress for Success program, and items students may need for residential living. Suggested items for the Food Pantry include protein rich non-perishable or shelf stable items (peanut butter, canned beans, canned tuna or chicken), ingredients for easy meals (pasta, pasta sauce, rice) and ready made meals (canned soups, stew, ramen noodles, cereal, boxed meals), and condiments. The Dress for Success program provides lightly used clothing for students for interviews, internships, and employment. Due to the variety of occupations our students work in, most items are appropriate including shoes, work boots, pants, polos, blouses, skirts, blazers, and jeans. Moving into an apartment for the first time can be expensive. The Community Center also takes donations for items needed in residential living such as small appliances, pots and pans, dishes, cleaning products, toiletries and hygiene products, bedding, bathroom towels, and the like.

People with questions or concerns can email the Community Center Coordinator at [email protected].
