The season comes to an end for the Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team this weekend as it will compete at the state tournament in Whitefish. The Ice Hawks will start the tournament with games against Billings and Missoula this Friday and Saturday at the Stumptown Ice Den.
The Ice Hawks start the tournament this Friday at 7:30 p.m. with their game against the Billings Bulls. Billings has a record of 13-7 this season and they have gotten the better of the Ice Hawks this season with a 4-0 record against Havre.
The Bulls have many players who can lead them to success against Havre this weekend. Seth Hanson is having a strong season leading the team with 11 goals. Clint Isakson has also been an impact player with 14 assists and 23 points this season. Joe Rolfson has been the best goalie for Billings this season with a 13-5 record, a save percentage of .934 and three shutouts.
The Ice Hawks continue the tournament with a game against the Missoula Bruins on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. The Bruins should be another formidable opponent with a 12-8 record and 4-0 record against the Ice Hawks this season.
Daniel Upton will look to make an impact on offense as he leads Missoula with 14 goals this season. Samuel Swain will also look to make an impact with a team-high 11 assists and 22 points this year for the Bruins. At goalie, Quinn Heggen will look to continue his solid season where he has a 9-4 record, a save percentage of .923 and three shutouts.
The Ice Hawks enter the tournament with a record of 5-15, so they will find themselves the underdog this weekend. If the Ice Hawks want to surprise some teams this weekend, they will need their best players to perform well.
Austin Boyce will look to score this weekend as he leads the Ice Hawks with 14 goals this season. He will also look to get other players involved as he leads the team with 12 assists and 26 points this year. The Ice Hawks will probably split time between Rogan Sayers and Clara Holland at goalie this weekend. Holland has a record of 4-10 and a save percentage of .864 and Sayers has a 1-4 record and a save percentage of .855.
There will also be hockey in Havre this weekend. The 12U A State Tournament will take place at the Havre Ice Dome from this Friday through Sunday, so there will be plenty of action close to home for local hockey fans.
But for the Ice Hawks high school hockey team, they will begin the state tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they face Billings at the Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish. The Ice Hawks will then continue the tournament Saturday at 10:15 a.m. when they face Missoula in Whitefish.
