Rocky Boy schools closed until at least Tuesday due to smoke

Staff and wire report

Rocky Boy Schools announced in a press release that it will be closed until at least Tuesday of next week, when the schools are expected to be back in session.

The schools closed Tuesday of this week after a fire in a stove in the cafeteria kitchen exposed the school buildings to smoke.

The release said the schools were scheduled to be closed Friday for a scheduled non-school day and Monday for a non-class day for pupil-related instruction — PIR — day.

The release said the small fire was contained to the one stove in the kitchen but, as a precautionary measure, the schools were closed and staff has been working to circulate air and address lingering effects of smoke.

The release said people with questions can contact Superintendent Voyd St. Pierre at 395-4291.
