HPS Superintendent contract ratified

The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees voted unanimously to ratify a three-year contract with Stevensville High School Principal Brian Gum to become the district’s new superintendent in a special meeting Tuesday.

The board interviewed two candidates for the position and unanimously voted to offer the contract to Gum last month.

The position of superintendent has been open since October of last year, which saw the unexpected death of then-Superintendent Craig Muller at age 50.

Since then Assistant Superintendent Brad Moore has been interim-superintendent, but did not apply for the permanent position.

Gum will begin as superintendent next school year, starting July 1.
