News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

What has God done for you today?

You know, Lord, one can certainly be caught off guard if someone asks us, "What has God done for you today?" Our minds freeze, that's almost like a pop-quiz teachers like to give, right?

That question keeps one thinking about You all day, Lord. We notice Your fingerprints, Your goodness and faithfulness or more specific things like a glorious sunrise, lovely colorful sunsets, finding a penny in a parking lot or a favored item on sale at the grocery store, or even a hug from a child.

Old or young, we are fellow pilgrims on the journey to heaven. We notice the faith of older Christians who pray without ceasing, who never give up, never give in, never give out - they know what You've done for them today.

Your Word States (Proverbs 13:20a) "The person who walks with the wise grows wise ... ."

The wise hear and obey Your voice. They are sources of strength and help to others on this journey. Their wisdom helps us notice You.

The evil one often controls this world, but You, Lord, give us spiritual strength, confidence and guidance. We can approach You with the assurance stated in Phil 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."

And once we grasp that, we can say as Edwin Markham wrote:

"He drew a circle that shut me out -

"Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.

"But LOVE and I had the wit to win;

"We drew a circle that took Him in."

We do need to watch and pay attention, Lord, for You do much more than we realize; healing bodies and minds, helping us find keys or caps; You guide us in all kinds of situations. We, too, can ask others, "What has God done for you today?" and share the love and joy that You, Lord, have given us. Thank You, Lord.

Love, Mara
