Obituary - Carolyn Kay Shulund

Carolyn Kay Shulund, 78, a lifelong resident of Havre, passed away at her home in Havre February 17, 2023.

Cremation has taken place and Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at a later date in Havre.

Carolyn was born in Havre, MT, October 7, 1944. She married Arnold "Arnie" Shulund in September 1967, and they had three children, Dale, Leah, and Jay.

Carolyn was a wonderful homemaker and fantastic cook. She was the happiest when her home was full of family and friends. Her love of family was so great, including nieces, nephews and all the extended family. She also spent 18 years wallpapering with her lifelong friend and partner, Sanda, not only in Havre, but up and down the Hi-Line as well. She belonged to the Elks and the Eagles organizations. Carolyn loved watching the Green Bay Packers play football and never missed a softball game when Arnie, Dale or Jay played. Bowling on Tuesday with the ladies and going to state bowling tournaments was always a grand time. She loved a good joke sharing many with Jay over the years.

Camping at Beaver Creek with family and friends was the highlight of her summers, the more people the merrier. She loved everyone and was loved by all. She never met a stranger, making friends everywhere she went. She loved to fish in the creeks and at all the reservoirs around the area and always had the time of her life. Many fall hunting trips with the boys created lots of fun memories. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes and she had beautiful gardens throughout her life and Dale and Marlene carry on the garden tradition.

Her granddaughters were the light of her life. She had "girls days" and sleepovers with them whenever they could and made the most special memories ever. She loved taking them to the fair and riding all the big rides with them and watching scary movies at sleepovers.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, father, Donald O'Brien, and mother, Lois Malone; stepfather, James Malone, and sister Linda Harmon.

Carolyn is survived by her wonderful husband of 55 years, Arnie Shulund; beloved children, Dale (Marlene) Shulund, Leah Shulund, and Jay (Marla) Shulund; sisters Patty (Ron) Harmon, Michelle Malone (Tim and Jimmy Lucas), and Kelly Robinson; grandchildren Shontrell, Jessika, Nickie, Paige, Rose, Kayla and Jordyn; and two great-grandsons, Greyson, and Leyton.

Her precious family and all her many friends held a very special place in her heart.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who knew her.
