Elizabeth Carroll
Talk about a debut. Havre High freshman Elizabeth Carroll made a big splash at last weekend’s Montana State Swimming Championships, placing in two events. Carroll took home the silver medal in the girls A-B 200 Individual Medley for the Blue Ponies. She also finished fourth in the girls A-B 100 backstroke. Carroll also swam on the relay teams for the Ponies, which scored 32 points and placed fourth overall in the Class A-B standings.
Tristan Stygles
What a weekend it was for Havre High junior Tristan Stygles. After four matches last weekend in Billings, Stygles won his first Class A state championship when he beat Chris Rathjen of Columbia Falls by pin in the 138-pound championship match. Stygles beat Jason Davis of Corvallis in the quarterfinals, and won a 5-4 decision over rival Currey Brown from Miles City in the semifinals Saturday morning. Stygles helped Havre to a sixth-place finish.
