Letter to the Editor - Thanks for supporting Boy Scouts of America

The Boy Scouts of America was founded Feb. 8, 1910, thus in 2023 we are celebrating 113 years. I would like to take this time to say thank you to all who have supported the various BSA programs over the past year. There have been many individuals, families, businesses, organizations in Havre and along the Hi-Line that have assisted this past year and without all of your support we could not survive.

I would specifically like to thank First Lutheran Church, St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and Community Alliance Church: First Lutheran Church (Troop 1438, Troop 1406 and Crew 2406) and St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church (Pack 4426) for being charter organizations and Community Alliance Church for allowing Pack 4426 to meet weekly at their church.

Additional thanks go to MSU-Northern for hosting the Hi-Line District Merit Badge College, Triangle Telephone for allowing us to deliver their phone books and the Holiday Village Mall for the space to run our annual Pinewood Derby (March 4th if any of you are interested). A few individuals who have supported our Cub Scout Pinewood Derby have been Jason Morehouse and Chris Preputin, and we would like to thank them as well.

Special thanks goes to Mayor Doug Kaercher and the Havre City Council for their proclamation Monday, Feb. 6, designating Feb. 6-10 as National Boy Scouts of America week here in Havre.

To all the parents, grandparents, foster parents, siblings and any other adults who have volunteered their time to become leaders in the various scouting units both currently and in the past. You also deserve our gratitude and thanks.

Last but not least, we would like to thank each and every one of you for your support of Scouting in Havre. Whether it is stopping at a car wash, purchasing Boy Scout popcorn (or jerky) or giving a scout youth a high five for a job well done you all have helped us in keeping BSA programs alive and well in Havre!

If you know someone that is interested in joining or assisting in any capacity, please let me know.

Thank you!

Bill Lanier
