While the Havre High wrestling teams will grab most of the attention this weekend, local wrestling fans should watch out to see what the other Hi-Line schools will do at the Class B/C State Tournament at the Metra in Billings this weekend. Wrestlers from schools such as Fort Benton, Chinook, Big Sandy, Chester-Joplin-Inverness and Harlem will compete at the tournament, so Hi-Line wrestling fans will have plenty to root for.
After placing fourth in the Eastern B/C Divisional, Fort Benton will send several wrestlers to state. Trevor O'Hara will head into state after taking first in the 113-pound weight class at divisionals. Nathan Dunham is coming off a third-place at 182 pounds at divisionals for the Longhorns, so he will look to continue wrestling well at state.
Other Longhorns heading to state include Damian Ort and Gavin Schmele who both finished fourth at divisionals last weekend. Cade Ball heads to state after taking fifth at 160 pounds at divisionals. Tyrus Reimer and Arrow Hucke will both represent Fort Benton at state after taking eighth in their weight classes at state.
Chinook will also have many strong wrestlers competing at state this weekend. Tyler Schoen will look to win another first-place trophy at state after taking home the title at 170 pounds last season. This year, he is coming off a first-place finish at 182 pounds at divisionals.
Lane Snider will head to state for Chinook after taking fourth at 145 pounds at divisionals. Walter Schoen and Zeke Sanders will both compete at state after finishing sixth in their weight classes at divisionals. Gauge Chapman took seventh at 126 pounds at divisionals to earn a spot at state. Griffin Crowley and Ayden Alisch will both represent Chinook at state after taking eighth at divisionals.
Big Sandy will also be represented at the Class C Tournament this weekend. Quinn Rodewald heads to state after taking second at 103 pounds at divisionals. Tannin Baumann will also head to state after taking fifth at divisionals. Other Pioneers heading to state include Sam Cox, Darrell Sunchild and Wesley Cox, who are all coming off seventh-place finishes at divisionals.
The Harlem Wildcats will have several wrestlers competing at the Class B Tournament. Kiiw Windy Boy finished sixth at 182 pounds at divisionals to qualify for state. Leon Champagne and Landen Gray both took seventh at divisionals to make it to state. Kendon Young will also head to state after an eighth-place finish at divisionals.
The state girls wrestling tournament will also take place in Billings this weekend. Harlem will look to do well after finishing second at the first ever Girls Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament.
Amilia Blackcrow will look to do well after taking first at 165 pounds at divisionals last weekend. Kaitlyn Johnson and Cyla Adams will both head to state after a finish of second place at divisionals. Izzy Baker will head to state after a fifth-place finish.
The Chinook girls wrestling team will also be represented at state this weekend. Emma Klingaman will look to build off her first-place finish at 120 pounds at divisionals. Bailey Billmayer and Grace Buck will both also head to state after third-place finishes at divisionals.
The Fort Benton girls wrestling team also has some wrestlers at state. Mica Juedeman will head to state after taking second at 235 pounds at divisionals. Etta Wicks took third at divisionals to earn a spot at state this weekend. Braydee Lehman finished fifth at divisionals to earn the right to compete at state.
The Chester-Joplin-Inverness girls wrestling team will be represented by Savannah Riggin and Kailani Tran, who both finished third at divisionals. Kyra Anderson and Trinity Carter both took fourth at divisionals to earn a spot at state this weekend. The Big Sandy girls wrestling team will be represented by Harley Labuda, who is coming off a first-place finish of 107 pounds at divisionals.
All these wrestlers will get started at the Class B/C State Wrestling Tournament this Friday at the Metra in Billings. Matches should get started around 10 a.m.
