High school girls basketball returned to the Hi-Line this past week with a whole new slate of exciting games. The week got started last Tuesday with the Harlem Wildcats winning, 45-43, on the road against Rocky Boy.

The week did not get easier for Rocky Boy as it suffered a 77-28 loss to Malta at home Thursday night. The M-Ettes jumped out to a 21-4 lead before taking a 43-20 lead into halftime. Malta then cruised to victory in the second half. Jayci Demontiney led Rocky Boy with 11 points.

On Friday, the Fort Benton Longhorns picked up a 48-40 win on the road against Conrad. The Cowgirls started strong taking a 13-11 lead. But the Longhorns responded to take a 25-22 lead into halftime.

The Longhorns continued to play well in the third as they stretched their lead to 37-28. Conrad tried to come back in the fourth, but the Longhorns held on to win. Emerson Giese led Fort Benton with 22 points while Casha Corder recorded 13 points.

In a District 9C game Friday, the North Star Knights defended home court with a 50-38 win over the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks. After trailing, 8-5, the Knights went on a run in the second to take a 25-20 lead into halftime.

The Hawks responded in the third to cut their deficit to 35-32, but the Knights took back momentum in the fourth to win the game. Kaytlyn Domire led North Star with 18 points while Laynie Sattoriva scored 16. Brynn Kammerzell scored 13 points for CJI.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters started their week with a 54-32 win at home against the Harlem Wildcats. Chinook got off to a strong start taking a 20-8 lead in the first quarter. By halftime, the Sugarbeeters had a 28-11 lead.

In the second half, the Sugarbeeters continued to play well to cruise to a win. Hallie Neibauer led Chinook with 19 points while Alexus Seymour recorded 16 points for the Sugarbeeters.

There were several other Hi-Line games Friday night. The Big Sandy Pioneers survived on the road to win, 61-59, against the Box Elder Bears. Eva Yeadon led the Pioneers with 22 points. Over in Hays, the Turner Tornadoes won, 56-55, in overtime against the Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds.

On Saturday, the Fort Benton Longhorns won, 58-38, at home against the Box Elder Bears. After trailing, 10-5, the Longhorns went on a run to take a 20-16 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Longhorns pulled away to win the game. Giese led the Longhorns with 23 points while Meiyah Oats led Box Elder with 11 points.

On Saturday, the Chinook Sugarbeeters went on the road and picked up a 63-26 win over the Turner Tornadoes. They started strong by taking an 18-4 lead before building their lead to 32-10 by halftime. The Sugarbeeters then pulled away in the second half to win. Seymour led Chinook with 26 points while Neibauer contributed 14 points in the win.

The CJI Hawks wrapped up the week with a 67-45 win at home against the HLP T-Birds. The Hawks took a 13-7 lead to start the game and then went on a run to take a 38-11 lead at halftime. The T-Birds played better in the second half but were unable to make any headway on the scoreboard. Kammerzell led CJI with 21 points and Jayla Ramberg scored 11 for the Hawks. Alliya Pretty Paint led HLP with 15 points.

The Harlem Wildcats ended the week with a 56-25 loss at home to Wolf Point. The Wolves jumped out to a 16-4 lead before pushing their lead to 30-10 by halftime. The Wolves then pulled away in the second half to win the game. The North Star Knights ended their week with a 61-54 win on the road against the Big Sandy Pioneers.

At the end of the week, Chinook remained undefeated with a 16-0 record. North Star comes in second in the 9C standings with a 13-3 record and Fort Benton takes third with a 10-6 record. Big Sandy stands at fourth with a 10-6 record. The rest of the standings are Box Elder in fifth, CJI in sixth, Turner in seventh and HLP in eighth.

Hi-Line high school girls basketball returns this Thursday when Harlem plays at Box Elder and North Star plays at Chinook.
