This weekend, the Havre High wrestling team will wrap up the regular season with the Browning Meet. With one last chance to improve before the Eastern A Divisionals next weekend, HHS head coach Beau LaSalle hopes to see the Blue Ponies compete hard at this tournament.
"We just want to go out and compete hard to finish the year off strong," LaSalle said.
At the tournament, the Ponies will compete against teams such as Malta, Cut Bank, Wolf Point and several schools from across the Hi-Line. As they head into the tournament, LaSalle believes that Cut Bank should be the toughest competition for them this weekend.
With the Eastern A Divisionals beginning the following week, the Ponies will leave some wrestlers home to rest up. However, the Ponies will have their younger wrestlers competing as LaSalle continues to evaluate his lineup for the postseason.
"We're just looking for our younger kids to go out and compete and kind of finalize our divisional roster," LaSalle said.
Just because several wrestlers will not be competing, that does not mean this will not be an important tournament for the Ponies. If their young wrestlers can prove their worth this weekend in Browning, it could give the Ponies some momentum heading into the postseason.
The HHS wrestling team will begin the Browning Meet in Browning this Saturday at 9 a.m.
