Montana Wildlife Federation is looking for assistance from people who regularly drive the Hi-Line from Havre to Shelby and Malta to Glasgow to help the department collect data of wildlife sightings.

The federation is asking drivers who regularly drive U.S. Highway 2 between Shelby and Havre at least once a week and or between Malta and Glasgow at least every other week to track using the WildlifeXing app where they see wildlife crossing on those stretches of highway.

Any volunteers who download the WildlifeXing app and participate regularly for at least three months will receive a premium annual membership to OnX code, a flyer says. OnX is GPS mapping technology for smartphones featuring land ownership maps, trail tracking and many other features that can work offline for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hunting, hiking and off-roading.

The data gathered through the WildlifeXing app will help develop mitigation strategies to reduce wildlife collisions and promote safety along U.S. Highway 2, the flyer says.
