A busy weekend for Havre Ice Hawks teams

It was a hectic return to the ice for the Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team, as they played four games in three days, both home and away.

Havre hosted Bozeman Friday night to start things off, and fell to the Ice Dogs 5-1. Havre trailed just 2-1 after the first period, as Rhett Wertheimer scored on assists from Austin Boyce and Stephen Preputin, but the Ice Hawks were shut out the rest of the way.

Playing the Ice Dogs in the Havre Ice Dome again Saturday morning, Havre quickly turned things around with a 3-1 win. Boyce and Decker Hanson scored first-period goals for Havre, while Fallen Stoner clinched the game with a third-period goal on an assist from Michael Emge. Rogan Sayers was great in goal for Havre, saving 24 of 25 Bozeman shots.

Immediately after playing Bozeman Saturday morning, the Ice Hawks traveled to Billings to play the Billings Bulls Saturday night, where the Ice Hawks were shut out 5-0. Havre also fell to Billings 3-2 Sunday morning. Boyce scored twice and Stoner added a goal for Havre, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Ice Hawks fell in overtime.

The Ice Hawks are back on the ice this weekend when they head to Kalispell to play a pair of games against the Flathead Fusion.

Also over the weekend, the Havre girls 19U team continued to play well with wins over Butte by scores of 5-1 and 1-0.
