The annual Havre-Hill County Library book club readings and discussions is about to begin, with the first discussion Thursday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. in the library meeting room.
The first book in the 2023 Winter Reading Series is “People of the Book,” by Geraldine Brooks, and is available for checkout now.
Light refreshments will be served at the discussion, and the next book, “The Book Thief,” by Markus Zusak, will be available for checkout.
All are welcome to this free event.
The Winter Reading Series is a longstanding tradition dating back to the very origins of the Havre-Hill County Library. The program began with retired library director, Bonnie Williamson, almost 40 years ago, just before the city and county libraries merged in 1986 to form the Havre-Hill County Library we have now.
The sessions were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Jan. 19 discussion will mark the first Winter Reading Series event since March, 2020.
The regular programming is ongoing this year including:
Books and Babies, Wednesdays, 10: 15 a.m.
Story Time, Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Block Party, Thursdays 3:30 p.m.
Cookies and Coloring , Jan. 17 (third Tuesdays), 3 p.m.
“People of the Book” discussion, Jan. 19, 7 p.m.
Yarn Circle, Jan. 20 (third Fridays), 4 p.m.
