The Blue Pony Booster Club is seeking nominations for the Dr. Jim Elliott Memorial Award.
Elliott’s family gave the first award in 2001 and purchased a plaque that hangs in a trophy case in the Havre High School’s west foyer with the names of each recipient engraved on it. The Booster Club has been given the honor from the Elliot family of choosing some one to receive this award.
This award is based on volunteerism along with personal and/or professional sacrifices made for the betterment of Blue Pony activities. This award is intended to be for more than just a fan but for an individual who truly makes an impact on our High School activities and athletics.
It is made in the memory of Elliott, a Havre High School and Northern Montana College, now Montana State University-Northern, graduate and a dedicated supporter of the community and school sports and activities who practiced medicine in Havre from 1960 until he retired in 1998.
Elliott died in 2000.
The most recent honorees of the award were Brett and Patti Hickman in 2020.
The first honoree of this award was the late Wells Lamey. Other people who have received the award include Ron Holden, Pat Newell, the late Chuck Williams, Dave and Pam Wilson, Kathie Newell, Dr. Gerald Olson, Mary Stevens, Noel Henderson, Charlie Klimas, Carol Bymaster-Gabrielsen and Barry Remus.
If you know of anyone that you think should received this award, please send their name to us along with a description as to why you think they are deserving of the award. Please help us in choosing a community member who is deserving of this wonderful award. All nominations can be sent to the Blue Pony Booster Club at PO Box 704, Havre, MT 59501, or emailed to the Booster Club at [email protected].
People need to submit their nominations by Feb. 1, 2023.
