Event still looking for volunteers

The annual Community Christmas Dinner is set at Havre Eagles Club Dec. 25

People can still call Havre’s North Central Senior Citizens Center at 406-265-5464 today to reserve having a meal delivered Christmas Day.

The meal at the club runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the organizers still are looking for volunteers.

People can call the club at 406-265-9551 to volunteer and for more information about the diner, a tradition in Havre for decades.

Havre Eagles Secretary Doug Denny said earlier this week that the dinner will feature mashed potatoes, green beans, pie, dinner rolls and a greens salad, but ham instead of turkey this year.

He said the price of turkey this year is out of control so they had to opt for ham instead.

Denny said he hopes to go back to turkey next year, but maybe ham will be more popular than he thinks.

The meat was donated by Milk River Gobblers this year.
