McKina Olson is a Havre High School student of the month for December 2022.
She is the daughter of McKay and Temina Olson and has three siblings, Garion, McKeon and Gavin.
McKina is a junior who is active in Belle Voix, and, formerly, marching band. Outside of school, McKina works for the HELP Committee.
Lindsey Ratliff, who nominated McKina, said, "McKina is a very serious student who utilizes her class time appropriately, puts in 100% effort, and works to grow her abilities in art class. McKina follows the rules, advocates for herself, and isn't afraid to take risks. McKina is very dependable and will always follow through on tasks she is assigned. I know I can trust McKina to make the right decision in any scenario. I look forward to seeing all the great things McKina will accomplish in her future."
In her free time, McKina enjoys reading, singing, drawing and using other artistic mediums, writing, cooking and designing houses with online programs.
After her time at HHS, McKina is considering architecture or interior design
Brooklyn Hansen is the other Havre High School Student of the Month for December 2022. Her parents are Troy Hansen and Jaimee Hansen and she has one sibling, Tatum, who is 14. Brooklyn is a senior who holds a job outside of school in addition to taking a full load of high school and dual credit courses.
Mandy Nitz, who nominated Brooklyn, said, "She is a diligent student who asks intelligent questions, seeking to truly understand the material at hand. Brooklyn is kind, thoughtful, and has an exceptional work ethic. She is carrying a full load of classes as a senior, including multiple dual credit college level courses. I'm so proud of her effort."
Outside of school, Brooklyn enjoys playing with her dog Rosie, hanging out with friends, working and cooking. In the future, Brooklyn plans to attend college to become a social worker.
